In addition, it features an innovatively designed auto-evaporation system that ensures that it can run for long without the need to empty water from its tank. In case you are looking for a portable air conditioner with impressive performance, then this system is uniquely designed to meet your cooling needs.

Description of the MM14CCS by Honeywell

This system offers powerful features that make it the ideal choice for many. Some of its impressive features include the following:

A very impressive cooling capacity. With an impressive cooling capacity of 14,000 BTU, this portable cooling system is capable of cooling a space as large as 550 square feet. However, it is important to note that this rating assumes optimum conditions and the size of the area may therefore be influenced by various factors including poor insulation and large ventilations within a room.

A very compact frame. The MM14CCS system has a small form factor that enhances it portability. It measures 29.3×16.5×15.7 (inches). Despite its small form factor, this system is heavy and weighs 65.5 pounds.

A smart, auto-evaporation System. This portable air conditioner features an auto-drain system and it is capable of blowing off condensate at a rate of 4 pints/hour. In real life conditions however, we are closer to a (still very decent) 2 pints/day average. This greatly minimizes chances of condensate accumulation within the system’s water collection tank. However, in high humidity areas, it is important to drain the condensate from time to time to avoid accumulations.

A nice, single hose design. Depending on the design of an air conditioner, it can feature one or more hoses. The Honeywell MM14CCS Portable Air Conditioner is a single hose system by design. Although most single hose air conditioners usually have lower efficiency as compared to the dual hose designs, this product is uniquely engineered to deliver a higher efficiency. In addition, This portable system features an easy-to-install window kit. The user can opt to remove the window vent when the system is not in use.

It is usually important to consider the noise level of an air conditioner before purchasing it. High noise levels can be a source of disturbance and this portable system was designed with that in mind. According to Honeywell, this system has a maximum noise level of 55 dB. This is a quiet system especially when considering it cooling capacity. However, our tests indicate a more realistic 60dB estimate.

A high Energy Efficiency Ratio. The MM14CCS has a high Energy Efficiency Ratio of 10.0. This value is a ratio of the system’s BTU rating to its maximum wattage rating. The higher the ratio, the more efficient the system is. Considering that this portable air conditioner is a single hose system, its EER is high and way above what most systems of similar design offers.

In addition, the MM14CCS has other impressive features including an automatic shutoff timer. This feature allows the system to shut off after a set duration of time, 1-24 hours, and a digital LED display that offers good readability.

  • It offers an impressive EER of 10.0. This is a high efficiency for a single hose air conditioner.
  • No-drip technology that is based on auto-evaporation. This enables the system to run for many hours without the need to remove accumulated condensate.
  • Low noise level. This air conditioner has a minimum noise level of 53 dBA.

  • Single hose design. Some users feel that this design has limited the performance capabilities of this system.
  • It's heavy. Although this portable air conditioner has a compact design and appears small, it is heavy. Some users feel that this hinders its portability.

Users' feedback

Users quotes on Amazon.comIt took me a long time to decide to finally buy a portable AC. I mean, I live in Seattle! But the summers have gotten hotter stayed hotter, or so it's felt. I did a lot of research and read all the reviews and decided on this AC. I am thrilled with it. First it's an AC and also a dehumidifier, can be uesd as either, which is a plus in Seattle. The noise level is low as far as I'm concerned. I have it in a rather small room and it doesn't interfere in watching tv. It appears to be built very well and most importantly, it cooled off my room and it stayed cool. I have it in a room that is 11x24, however, it's open as it's the dining/living room area, so the kitchen comes off it as well as the hall, therefore the unit is really trying to cool more than just the 11x24 space. Therefore it's not quite as efficient in getting that space cool as fast as it would be if it were in a closed room."

Users quotes on Amazon.comI read a lot of reviews before i purchased the Honeywell MM14CCS . It works well and blows cold air and its not that loud no more than a window unit. The top vent points upward but nothing a piece of cardboard folded as a hood makes the air blow straight forward. It gets cool in my front room and Kitchen. I live in Southern California it gets hot here and right now its 85 outside and 76 inside my house and the temp keeps dropping. Last week we had a heat wave in the 90's 100's so I'll be ready for the summer. My wall unit finally stopped working so i bought this portable so i can move it around in my house especially the bedroom when summer temps are high at night."

Conclusion: MM14CCS by Honeywell

The Honeywell MM14CCS Portable Air Conditioner is undeniably the ideal cooling system for users who don’t want to install a permanent air conditioner in their houses.

This 3-in-1 system is specially engineered to offer three functionalities: cooling, fanning, and dehumidification. With the capability to remove around 50 pints of condensate in 24 hours, its built-in dehumidifier is by all standards a powerful system.

Nevertheless, some users have expressed issues with the single hose design claiming that it is limiting the system’s performance capability. Some also feel that its cost is way above that of similar single hose systems.

By considering the portable design, auto-evaporation system, and its feather-touch LED controls, we can’t be wrong to rate MM14CCS highly.
