Since the vent hose and the window sealing are not insulated, some heat manages to escape back to the room. To reduce this, the user needs to improvise insulation by covering the seal and wrapping the hose with an insulation material. This lack of proper insulation affects the overall efficiency of this air conditioner.

First off, everything works exactly as advertised. It doesn't have a huge air movement power or cooling capacity, but it does decently. I have the unit installed in my office, primarily to offset the (sometimes staggering) heat generated by multiple computers and monitors. It doesn't get the room down to frosty, but it certainly handles the heat load. You won't be cooling an entire apartment with this, but for trouble spots or specific solutions, it does just fine. The air filter is remarkably easy to remove and clean, certainly a step up from most units I've dealt with. Now the drawbacks: Noise. It claims to run quiet, and it does - in comparison to a box fan or a window AC unit. If I load a voice chat program, however, I have to turn the fan down to its lowest setting, or it overwhelms the microphone. It's not exactly deafening, but you're going to notice it. Efficiency. As others have said, neither the vent hose nor the window sealing are insulated, allowing a decent amount of radiant heat to be shed back into the room. You're going to want to pick up a ductwork insulation roll to wrap the hose and cover over the window seal. This has the added benefit of allowing you to create a better seal around the window - the plastic shield that the unit comes with doesn't include any weather stripping or sealing tape. Still, it's added expense and effort. Idiot proof operation. I include this because anything that's not self-evident will be made a mistake of. All setting instructions are in the manual only. The 'Mode' light changes color between blue (AC), orange (dehumid), and green (fan), but there's no written indication on the unit or remote which is which - lose the manual, and visitors/relatives/resale customers are going to fumble with it."
I own my own mobile dog grooming business (a 12x10 trailer) and unfortunately, it did not have A/C. Where I live, the weather is usually mild. But when it gets hot, it gets HOT. Instead of paying for a full A/C install, I thought a portable one would be better. First things first - weight. It's SUPER lightweight and easy to move around. It comes with wheels attached already. I'm a 120lb woman and I can lift it into the trailer no problem. Setup was a breeze. Put one end of the hose into the A/C, one end out of the window. Due to the way my trailer windows are made, the included window attachment didn't work. So I stuffed my windows with towels to block out all the hot air. I gave it 15 minutes to cool down the trailer with all windows and doors closed, and it brought the temp down from 95F to 76F. I was very impressed. It does get in the way since it cannot be flush against the wall, but for the price and how well it works I will deal with a little less room!"
