Philips Air Purifiers

Philips reputation and history

The logo of Philips

Philips is a multinational company known for producing high quality electronic products. Its history dates back to 1891 when Gerard Philips and his father founded it to produce carbon-filament lamps as well as other electro-technical items. It was not until in the 1920s that the company started producing other products like the vacuum tubes.

Philips was once involved in the sale of major household appliances but it sold that division to Whirlpool Corporation. Whirlpool had initially bought 53% stake in Philip’s major appliance division but later acquired the remaining percentage in 1991 to form Whirlpool International.

Although the company is now currently mainly focused on the healthcare sector, it is still involved in the manufacture and sale of other household products such as beauty appliances, shavers, computer accessories, air purifiers, humidifiers, among others.

Philips Air Purifiers

Philips manufactures air purifiers that are popular for their high performance. They come in three models: the 5000 series for extra-large rooms of up to 454 square feet, the 2000 series for medium to large rooms, and the 1000 series for small to medium rooms. The manufacturer recommends the 2000 series for rooms that are up to 277 square feet and the 1000 series for spaces that are up to 200 square feet.

To deliver the optimum performance, Philips air purifiers utilize the highly efficient True HEPA filters that are capable of capturing up to 99.97% of air pollutants. This filter can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns. These include impurities and allergens such as mold spores, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and smoke.

All the three models employ a multi-stage active air filtration system consisting of three different filters. These specific filters are as follows: a pre-filter for trapping large particles, an active carbon filter for toxic odors and gases, and a True HEPA filter for capturing minute particles.

All three models include sensors to detect allergens and gases as well as an auto-detection mode for detecting even the slightest increase in the concentration of allergens. They are also designed to run quietly and they are suitable for spaces that demand quietness.

The Philips 5000i series features a dual-fan that gives it the ability to double the airflow to achieve maximum performance. It is also linkable with the Air Matters App that allows a person to track and control the indoor air quality from a smart phone or a tablet.

With these air purifiers, among other products such as humidifiers, Philips remains to be among the best air solution providers.
