The history of Ebac dates back to the early 1970s when John Elliot, a trained engineer, took an order to design and build industrial dehumidifiers. The company grew rapidly to hit a one million pound turnover in seven years. In 1980, the family owned company produced domestic dehumidifiers in mass quantity. It was the first UK’s company to produce domestic dehumidifiers on such scale.
Although Ebac started by targeting the local market, it later started to venture into the world market. Its operations in the US started in 1984. In 1993, the Ebac started producing water coolers. The company has been investing in research in order to ensure that it provides the market with innovative air quality products.
Ebac launched the patented WaterTrail system in 1994. In the following year, 1995, it launched a Smart defrost system for its dehumidifiers. Ebac Group Ltd was formed in 1997. In the same year, the group opened its France and Germany offices.
